10 Steps to Set Up MailerLite for Sending Newsletters with WordPress


Starting a new business involves making several critical decisions, and one such decision is selecting an email platform that would help you connect with your potential customers. In my case, I opted for MailerLite.

Setting up MailerLite to send newsletters from a website involves a few key steps. 

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you get started:

Step 1: Sign Up for MailerLite

1. Go to the MailerLite website (

2. Create an account by clicking the “Sign Up Free” or similar button.

3. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the registration process.

Step 2: Verify Your Email Address

1. After signing up, you’ll receive an email from MailerLite to verify your email address. Click the verification link in the email to confirm your account.

Step 3: Log In to Your MailerLite Account

1. Once your email is verified, log in to your MailerLite account using your newly created credentials.

Step 4: Set Up Your Workspace

1. After logging in, you’ll be prompted to set up your workspace.

2. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure your workspace settings, including your company name, time zone, and address.

Step 5: Create a New Group

1. In MailerLite, you organize your subscribers into groups.

2. Click on the “Subscribers” tab in the top menu.

3. Click on “Groups” on the top menu.

4. Click the “Create Group” button.

5. Give your group a name and description (Newsletter), then click “Save.”

Step 6: Add Subscribers

1. Click on the “Subscribers” tab again.

2. Click on “Add Subscribers or Import Subscribers.”

3. You can either upload a CSV file with your subscriber list or add subscribers manually.

Step 7: Create a Newsletter

1. Click on the “Campaigns” tab.

2. Click the “+ Create Campaign” button.

3. Choose “Regular Campaign” if you’re creating a standard newsletter.

4. Select your group or audience segment.

5. Configure your campaign settings, including the subject line, sender name, and reply-to email address.

6. Create your newsletter content using the drag-and-drop editor. You can add text, images, buttons, and more.

7. Preview your newsletter to ensure it looks good.

8. Click “Next.”

Step 8: Schedule or Send Your Newsletter

1. Choose when you want to send your newsletter (now or schedule it for later).

2. Review your campaign settings and content.

3. Click “Send” or “Schedule” as per your preference.

Step 9: Monitor Campaign Performance

1. After your newsletter is sent, you can monitor its performance.

2. Track metrics like open rates, click-through rates, and unsubscribes in the MailerLite dashboard.

Reminder to check your analytics to see what is working so you can make data-informed decisions.

Step 10: Integrate MailerLite with Your Website

1. To allow website visitors to subscribe to your newsletter, you can integrate MailerLite using forms or pop-ups.

2. MailerLite offers integration options for various website platforms, including WordPress and Shopify. Follow platform-specific instructions. Here is the integration link for WordPress.

Bonus Step: Maintain and Grow Your Subscriber List

1. Regularly update and maintain your subscriber list by removing inactive or unsubscribed contacts.

2. Continue to create and send engaging newsletters to your subscribers to grow your audience.
